Jobseeker Spotlight: Brad

Say hello to Brad! Brad is one of our Engage to Change participants in the Newport area of South Wales. After leaving education, Brad wanted to find employment but struggled to cope with his various disabilities. He was recommended to ELITE and met with our team out in East Wales. Brad, from Llyswerry in Newport, showed promise early on demonstrating a willingness to work and a passion for physical tasks. His ADHD and Alcohol Fetal Syndrome diagnoses threw some barriers in his way to employment, however both Brad and the ELITE team were confident in Brad’s ability to complete tasks

It is time for another Jobseeker Spotlight from ELITE Supported Employment. Today, we are shining the light on our Engage to Change participant Sam who lives in Swansea. Sam, who is 24, is currently working at Costa Cwmdu after receiving support from both ELITE Supported Employment and Costa Coffee! Meet The Team: Amey

First up on the revamped edition of ELITE’s ‘Meet The Team’ is one of the newest members of the ELITE family – Amey! Amey joined ELITE in March 2019 forming part of the new JobSense project assisting people with visual and hearing impairments into work. The Employment Advisor has settled into her new job and has become an integral part of the project. Offering one-to-one support to jobseekers with impairments, Amey covers a wide area from Cardiff through to the English boarders in Wales. Asides from her main duties as an Employment Advisor, she also manages the JobSense Twitter page!

ELITE Win Charity Bus Competition

ELITE Supported Employment were recently announced as one of the winners of the Charity Bus Competition hosted by Edwards Coaches! The competition will see 10 local charities featured on the Edwards fleet for a 12-month period. Covering all of South Wales, these bus adverts will provide vast exposure to many local charities as Edwards continue their usual bus routes and services sporting charity livery! In this edition of ELITE’s Jobseeker Spotlight, we catch up with recent Project SEARCH graduate Bradley. Bradley first came into contact with ELITE after he was accepted onto our Project SEARCH internship in Bridgend. Project SEARCH, a year-long internship as part of our Engage to Change project, sees interns hone their work skills and experience through education and placements. In our latest Jobseeker Spotlight, we are shining the light onto Lydia! Lydia is one of our Engage to Change participants who came to ELITE’s attention in late 2018. The 21-year-old based out of Port Talbot and Bridgend had struggled to find work since leaving education. Although she is a very capable young individual, Lydia has additional barriers to overcome when it comes to employment. Project SEARCH Celebrates Double Graduation

Thursday 27th June 2019 was a pretty special date for ELITE – it marked both the graduation ceremonies for our Project SEARCH interns in Cardiff and Bridgend! With sunny skies and soring temperatures on the day, both events saw a grand total of 19 interns graduating from their respective classes after a year-long internship programme. The day commenced in Bridgend where the Princess of Wales Hospital played host to the first ever graduation event for Project SEARCH Bridgend.
