In our latest Jobseeker Spotlight, we are shining the light onto Lydia! Lydia is one of our Engage to Change participants who came to ELITE’s attention in late 2018. The 21-year-old based out of Port Talbot and Bridgend had struggled to find work since leaving education. Although she is a very capable young individual, Lydia has additional barriers to overcome when it comes to employment. Project SEARCH Celebrates Double Graduation

Thursday 27th June 2019 was a pretty special date for ELITE – it marked both the graduation ceremonies for our Project SEARCH interns in Cardiff and Bridgend! With sunny skies and soring temperatures on the day, both events saw a grand total of 19 interns graduating from their respective classes after a year-long internship programme. The day commenced in Bridgend where the Princess of Wales Hospital played host to the first ever graduation event for Project SEARCH Bridgend. ELITE win at the ERSA Awards 2019

On Thursday 13th June 2019, ELITE staff members travelled to London for the annual ERSA Employability Awards held at the Royal College Of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. With hundreds in attendance and over 150 nominations put forward, ELITE came away from the event with the Team Of The Year Award. FREE Disability Awareness Training workshop announced

As part of Disability Awareness Day on 16th July 2019, we have announced a free Disability Awareness Training workshop for all employers to attend! ELITE's Training Manager Chris English, who will be conducting the workshop, is using the event to spread awareness and understanding to any individuals who are interested in improving their workforce diversity with the inclusion of disabled members of staff. Staff Spotlight: Molly

Molly is one of the success stories of the ELITE volunteering department. During her time in Cardiff University in 2018, Molly started volunteering with ELITE as part of the Project SEARCH section of our Engage to Change project. Assisting young adults with Autism into work placements in a voluntary capacity, Molly then applied for a full-time position with ELITE. In January 2019 – she started working as an ELITE Employment Advisor in the Newport region. In this time, Molly has developed her own style of support and communication using the skills and training given to her from our volunteering projects.

Volunteer Spotlight: Lorence

Lorence is one of our volunteers who assists the Project SEARCH section of our Engage to Change project! Achieving a degree in History from the University of Southampton back in 2013, Lorence began the application process for his PCGE in 2018 (with the aim of becoming a History teacher!) His desire to broaden his experience led him to ELITE and a classroom based volunteering role with Project SEARCH. Attending weekly sessions at our location in Cardiff University, Lorence applies his skills teaching the Project SEARCH interns offering support, advice and mentoring.
